Joyce Bawah Mogtari is a prominent Ghanaian lawyer and politician, currently serving as the special aide to former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC's flag bearer for the 2024 elections.
Born in Ghana's Savanna Region, she studied at Wesley Girls' Senior High School and later earned an LL.B. from Holborn College, University of London, and advanced degrees in maritime law and conflict resolution.
Her career began at Sey & Co., and she has held roles such as a consultant for KPMG and the Venture Capital Trust Fund, Head of the Legal Department at the Ghana Shippers' Authority, and Senior Managing Partner at Praetorium Solicitors.
Politically, she has been a key member of the NDC, serving as a spokesperson for John Mahama's 2016 campaign and as Deputy Minister of Transport from 2013 to 2017.
Mogtari is also active in various professional associations, including the Ghana Bar Association and the African Women Lawyers Association. She is married to Hudu Mogtari and is the younger sister of former Minister Otiko Afisa Djaba.
