Ghanaian Festivals of November:...

The Wear Ghana Festival is an annual cultural initiative spearheaded by the National Commission on Culture in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana Textiles Printing Company (GTP), and the National Theatre.
Launched in 2017, the festival showcases Ghana's vibrant local textiles ranging from kente and smock to Woodin and GTP prints through fashion shows, exhibitions, campus tours, and creative outreach.
Held each March, the event proceeds under a unifying theme such as “Wear Ghana for Jobs in Ghana” (2023) or “Sustaining Culture to Create Employment through Textiles” (2022), emphasising not only sartorial pride but also economic opportunity.
Fashion flash events, wear-on-campus contests, spoken word showcases, and traditional dress tutorials highlight the creative talent of students and designers, while digital voters select standout participants from shared festival content online.
More than a show of colour and style, the Wear Ghana Festival has become a national platform for promoting cultural identity, nurturing local creative industries, and generating youth employment.
It fosters visibility for homegrown designers, urges institutions and citizens to don indigenous fabrics at official events, and encourages legislation favouring Ghanaian-made materials all to weave fashion into the fabric of national solidarity.
