Joe Ghartey, a Ghanaian lawyer and politician, has played a key role in governance, serving as Attorney-General (2006–2009), Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament (2013–2017), and Minister for Railways Development (2017–2021).
A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he has been the MP for Essikado/Ketan since 2004.
A legal expert, he co-founded Ghartey & Ghartey law firm and has lectured in law at various institutions. His tenure as Attorney-General saw the launch of the Justice for All program, improving access to justice for remand prisoners.
He has also contributed to Ghana’s oil and gas legal framework.
Beyond politics, he has been involved in human rights advocacy and electoral reforms.
Married to Efua Ghartey, a lawyer and legal leader, he is a father of five and a dedicated Christian.
