Peter Ala Adjetey was a distinguished Ghanaian lawyer, politician, and academic.

He served as the Speaker of the 3rd Parliament of Ghana's Fourth Republic from 2001 to 2005 and was a Member of Parliament for Kpeshie during the Third Republic from 1979 to 1981.

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adjetey was the party's National Chairman from 1995 to 1998. He also held leadership roles as President of the Ghana Bar Association from 1985 to 1989 and President of the African Bar Association in 2000.

Adjetey began his career as a Law Officer at the Attorney General’s Department from 1959 to 1962 and lectured part-time at the University of Ghana’s Institute of Adult Education and the Ghana School of Law.

He served as Secretary of the Ghana Bar Association from 1969 to 1971 and later became its President.

Adjetey was also a member of the Judicial Council of Ghana and chaired the Board of Governors at Accra Academy.

Adjetey received numerous honors, including the Order of the Volta in 2008 and an honorary doctorate from the University of Ghana.

He passed away on 15 July 2008 after a short illness, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to law, politics, and education.
