Afronita, also known as Stargyal, is emerging as one of the most influential and promising Afrobeat dancers from Ghana.
Born Danita Akosua Adomaah Yeboah on November 30, 2003, in Kumasi, Ghana, Afronita has already made a significant impact in the dance world at a young age.
In her early twenties, she has amassed a substantial following on social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, where her captivating dance routines have gained widespread popularity.
Afronita's dance journey began before completing her Basic Examination Certificate Exam in 2018 when she joined the Dance With Purpose Academy (DWP). Inspired by her idol, Dancegod Lloyd, her dedication and talent quickly led her to perform alongside notable dancers such as Endurance Grand, Lisaquama, and Richael.
She has also collaborated with several musicians, including KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Dope Nation, D Jay, MzVee, Becca, and Gyakie, enhancing her visibility and popularity.
In January 2024, Afronita left DWP to launch her own dance academy, Afro Star Kids Academy, focusing on training young dancers aged 3 to 12. This new venture reflects her commitment to dance education and nurturing the next generation of dancers.
Despite her busy dance career, Afronita has achieved considerable academic success. She recently graduated from Wesley Girls Senior High School and is now pursuing higher education at Legon, Ghana's most prestigious institution. Afronita takes pride in breaking stereotypes, proving that it is possible to excel both in academics and the arts.
Her rise to fame has attracted major brands like MTN, Airtel Tigo, Pizzaman-Chickenman, McBerry, and Club Spartella, who have shown interest in sponsoring her.
Afronita has performed at notable events such as the Video Game Awards in 2020, Afropunk Festival in 2019, Lauderium, Gyakie's "Live Experience" event in 2021, and Dope Nation's "Dope" performance in 2021.
Afronita's talent has been recognized with awards, including "Best Female Dancer of the Year" at the DWP Awards, "Female Dancer of the Year" at the Ghana Youth Entertainment Awards in 2020, and "Best Dancer of the Batch" at the Wesley Girls' Awards Night in 2021.
She has been featured in multiple magazine articles, with her journey documented under the slogan “I’m in it to create history.”
In May 2024, Afronita made a significant mark on the international stage by participating in Britain's Got Talent with fellow talented Ghanaian dancer Abigail. The duo's performances captivated audiences, securing them a commendable third place in the competition and raising the profile of Ghanaian dance on a global platform.
Despite her busy schedule, Afronita remains grounded and connected to her roots. She has addressed rumors about her personal life, including a supposed relationship with fellow dancer Champion Rollie, clarifying that their interactions were part of their characters in the DWP Academy to generate online interest.
Afronita's impact on the dance world continues to grow, and she is well on her way to achieving her goal of becoming one of the greatest and most well-known female dancers from Ghana.
