Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, popularly known as Black Sherif or Blacko, is a fast-rising Ghanaian musician and fashion model who has captivated audiences across Africa and beyond with his fusion of highlife, Afrobeats, hip hop, and drill.
Born in Konongo in 2002, Black Sherif broke into the spotlight in 2021 with his viral “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon” tracks.
His major breakthrough came in 2022 with the hit single “Kwaku the Traveller,” which topped charts in Ghana and Nigeria.
Since then, he has released two albums — The Villain I Never Was and his latest, Iron Boy, launched in April 2025.
A former student of UPSA and the University of Ghana, Black Sherif has performed on global stages including the MOBO Awards, Wireless Festival, and Palladium Times Square in New York.
With collaborations featuring international stars like Burna Boy, Tory Lanez, and Stormzy, he continues to make waves with his unique sound and raw storytelling, becoming a powerful voice for Ghanaian youth and African music.
