King Ayisoba, born Albert Apoozore, is one of Ghana’s most celebrated traditional musicians.

He is widely known for his distinct sound created with the kologo, a two-stringed instrument that lies at the heart of his artistry. Through his work, he has successfully connected traditional rhythms with modern audiences in Ghana and beyond.

He was born in Bongo Soe, a town in the Upper East Region of Ghana. Growing up in this culturally rich environment shaped his deep appreciation for traditional sounds, which later became the foundation of his career.

In the early stages of his musical journey, Ayisoba performed with the late Terry Bonchaka, a rising star in Ghana’s music scene whose life ended tragically.

Their collaboration introduced him to wider audiences and marked the beginning of his recognition as a unique voice in Ghanaian music.

Over the years, King Ayisoba has released several studio albums that reflect his evolving style and message.

His works include Modern Ghanaians released in 2006, Africa in 2008, Don’t Do the Bad Thing in 2012, Wicked Leaders in 2014, 1000 Can Die in 2017, and most recently Work Hard in 2023. Each of these albums highlights his dedication to storytelling, cultural pride, and the blending of traditional and contemporary elements.

His contribution to music has earned him significant recognition. At the 2007 Ghana Music Awards, he won both Song of the Year and Traditional Song of the Year.

These awards established him as an important and enduring figure in Ghana’s music industry.
