Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma, the Convention People's Party (CPP) flagbearer, is a distinguished Ghanaian politician with a rich background in both education and social advocacy.
She began her activism with the 31st December Women’s Movement, later working in the U.S. at Working Mothers Incorporated and Optimum Care Agency. She also pioneered a childcare curriculum at the University of Maryland.
Returning to Ghana, she founded Caring Kids International and the Youth in Excellence Service for Mother Ghana (YES), focusing on youth education and community service.
Madam Sarpong has made significant contributions to youth development in Ghana through initiatives like nationwide reading programs, donations of books and computers, and financial aid to students, particularly in Dormaa District.
She sponsored clubs promoting excellence and abstinence in schools, launched the “Cleaning Ghana for Computers” program, and established Ghana's first youth parliament.
Additionally, she founded the Human Potential Community College for JHS graduates. Honored with multiple awards, including the West African Students Award, she is affectionately called “Mother Ghana” by the National Union of Ghana Students.
A mother of three, she remains a passionate advocate for education, environmental care, and youth empowerment.
