Maame Tiwaa, born Mary Tiwaa, was a renowned gospel singer, celebrated for her soulful voice and her decades of meaningful contribution to Ghanaian gospel music.
From a young age, she discovered her passion for singing, performing in church choirs and local groups where her talent quickly became evident and set the stage for a remarkable musical journey.
She rose to national recognition as the leading female voice of the celebrated gospel group Yaw Sarpong & Asomafo, helping shape their signature sound and bringing numerous beloved gospel songs to life across Ghana.
Her voice graced classics like “Wo Haw Ne Sen?”, “Awurade Ka Me Ho”, “Yen Fa Oye Nkoaa”, and “Mensuro,” blending warm soprano tones with heartfelt emotion that made every performance both intimate and powerful.
Over the years, Maame Tiwaa became a defining figure in Ghanaian gospel music, inspiring younger artists and worship leaders through her devotion, consistency, and passion.
She continued to perform at major events, including the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, demonstrating her enduring influence in the gospel community.
Tragically, Maame Tiwaa passed away on 7 December 2025 at the age of 62 after a brief illness, leaving behind a wave of grief from churches, musicians, and fans who remembered her as a humble and dedicated minister of gospel music.
