Stories and facts
Conveniently positioned between Abidjan and Accra, the respective capital cities of Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, Busua Beach Resort was recognized as the recipient of the prestigious Akwaaba Leisure Awards 2007 for being the finest leisure hotel in West Africa.
Whether you desire a serene escape, thrilling water sports, or an immersive cultural expedition, Busua Beach Resort is a tropical paradise that guarantees an unforgettable sojourn.
History of Busua Beach Resort
Having a history spanning over 40 years, Busua Beach Resort emerged as a resort exclusively catering to affluent individuals from Sekondi-Takoradi during the 1960s. Western tourists, primarily Europeans, began visiting the seaside, although there was no electricity or running water available until the 1990s.
During that time, accommodation options were limited to a small bungalow, the sole building in the resort. Notably, the town lost its coconut trees in the 1990s due to widespread palm disease.
In the 21st century, Busua has developed a robust electricity supply system, ensuring consistent power availability unlike the past reliance on generators only on weekends. This development has led to the establishment of numerous restaurants, lodges, resorts, real estate properties, and bungalows.
In 2007, Busua Beach Resort received recognition at the Akwaaba Leisure Awards as the Best Leisure Hotel in West Africa. Presently, it holds the status of a 3-star international-standard resort.

With consistent waves and warm water temperatures, it attracts surfers of all levels, from beginners to experienced riders. The resort offers surfboard rentals and lessons, allowing guests to ride the waves and experience the thrill of catching the perfect wave. Even if you're not into surfing, watching the surfers carve through the waves is a captivating sight.
