The Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation is the government body in Ghana responsible for advancing environmental and scientific development in the country.

The ministry envisions sustaining national growth by leveraging science, technology, and innovation to drive economic development while ensuring healthy and well-structured environmental conditions.

Its mission is to promote growth through measures that strengthen research and development for appropriate environmental, scientific, and technological solutions, emphasizing awareness, partnerships, and teamwork.

The ministry oversees several key agencies, including the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority, the National Biosafety Authority, and the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of Ghana.

Its objectives include promoting safe and sustainable environmental practices, fostering a culture of science and technology at all levels of society, developing institutional capacities in human resource management, infrastructure, and equipment, encouraging public demand for scientific and technological products and services, ensuring compliance with human settlement standards, strengthening linkages with local and international partners, and coordinating research and development activities.

The functions of the ministry involve supporting policies and actions that advance scientific and technological development, monitoring and supervising activities within the environment, science, technology, and innovation sectors while ensuring economic benefits, providing effective environmental management and oversight, and managing programs and budgets to achieve a cohesive and unified management system.

Through these efforts, the ministry seeks to drive sustainable development and strengthen Ghana’s position in science, technology, and environmental stewardship.
