Ghana Football Association: Quest for new Black Stars coach continues

Stories and facts

The search committee of the Ghana Black Stars has submitted its report and recommendations on the vacant Black Stars head coach position to the Executive Council. The report was received by President Simeon-Okraku on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, according to the official website of the GFA. The Executive Council will now assess the recommendations to decide on the next coach for the Black Stars. Following the coaching selection, the FA will collaborate with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other key stakeholders for their support. The Committee was also instructed to identify suitable and competent coaches for consideration, regardless of whether they had applied for the position.

There were rumors about the potential return of the former Black Stars coach Otto Addo but former Ghanaian footballer, Charles Taylor, has voiced his reservations regarding the potential reappointment of Otto Addo as the head coach of the national team.

Despite receiving over 500 applications, including one from Otto Addo himself, Mark Addo, the leader of the search team, is yet to make a final decision regarding the appointment of a new coach.
