Wendy Asiamah Addo, known to millions as Wendy Shay, has quickly become one of Ghana’s most recognizable music stars.

Born in Accra and later relocating to Stuttgart, Germany after the loss of her father, Wendy’s journey has been shaped by resilience, purpose, and an early love for music.

Growing up in both Ghana and Germany, she attended Morning Star School and St. Martin de Porres before continuing her education abroad, where she also enrolled in a music school, an experience that helped nurture her passion for performing.

Before fame, Wendy trained and worked as a nurse and midwife, but her heart was always drawn to music.

In 2018, after returning to Ghana, she was introduced to RuffTown Records’ manager Bullet and signed shortly after. Her debut single “Uber Driver” immediately caught nationwide attention and set her on a path to stardom.

Since then, Wendy Shay has released a string of hit songs including Bedroom Commando, Astalavista, Survivor, Habibi, African Money, and Holy Father. She has also dropped albums such as Shay On You, Enigma, and Shaying Star.

Her rising influence has earned her several awards, including 2018 VGMA Discovery of the Year and 3Music’s Breakthrough Act of the Year in 2019.

She has performed on major stages, from Miss Ghana finales to the Afronation Festival, reinforcing her place among Ghana’s top female performers.

Beyond music, Wendy Shay was enstooled as Ahenemba Hemaa, Queen Mother of Gomoa Afransi, taking the stool name Queen Ewurabena Ofosuhemaa Shay I.

She also serves as a Brand Ambassador for the Youth Employment Agency, YEA.
