John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills was a Ghanaian politician and scholar who served as the 11th President of Ghana from 2009 until 2012.

He was a renowned law professor and tax expert. Mills held various roles, including Vice President under Jerry Rawlings from 1997 to 2001.

He won the 2008 presidential election on a platform of social democracy and was the first Ghanaian head of state to die in office.

During his presidency, Mills oversaw the commencement of Ghana's first commercial oil production and implemented policies to improve education and economic stability.
