John Akologu Tia was a Ghanaian politician who held the position of Minister for Information in Ghana. He represented the Talensi constituency as a Member of Parliament from January 7, 1993, until he was defeated by Robert Nachinab Doameng in the 2012 General Election.

 John Akologu Tia, born on September 23, 1954, in Gambaga, Northern Region, Ghana, embarked on a journey marked by education, professional dedication, and political service. He attended local schools before pursuing higher education, obtaining a diploma in journalism in 1980. Further studies at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) enhanced his skills in management and public administration from 2005 to 2008.

In his professional career, Akologu served as a pupil teacher and worked with the Information Services Department and the Ghana News Agency. He actively engaged in trade unions, holding significant roles from 1985 to 1992.

Entering politics in 1982, Akologu served as press secretary before becoming a Member of Parliament (MP) for Talensi in 1992, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He retained his seat until 2012, also serving as a member of the ECOWAS Parliament. In 2009, he was appointed Minister for Information by President Mills, marking a pivotal moment in his political career.

His electoral successes from 1992 to 2004 showcased his popularity and support among constituents, securing victories in successive elections. Akologu's legacy extends beyond politics, encompassing his role as a devoted husband and father.

Tragically, John Akologu Tia passed away on March 24, 2024, at the Upper East Regional Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service and contributions to Ghanaian politics and society.
