Moliy in motion: Shake it to the max

Stories and facts

Moliy, born Molly Ama Montgomery in Accra, Ghana, is making waves with a sound that’s all her own.

Growing up between Accra and Florida, she was influenced by everything from Ghanaian highlife music to global stars like Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson.

These different sounds helped shape her unique Afro-fusion style — a smooth blend of Afrobeats, alté, R&B, and dancehall.

Her music speaks to both sides of her life, mixing bold rhythms with soft, dreamy vocals that feel both personal and global.

Her journey into music began during a tough time in her life, when she returned to Ghana and decided to chase her passion. She made her debut with the Wondergirl EP in 2020, capturing attention with empowering lyrics and a fresh voice.

Her big break came with a feature on Amaarae’s “Sad Girlz Luv Money (Remix),” which became a global hit. Moliy kept growing with her 2022 EP Honey Doom, showing more of her heart and voice.

In December 2024, she teamed up with Jamaican producer Silent Addy for “Shake It to the Max (Fly).”

The remix, featuring Shenseea and Skillibeng, dropped in February 2025 and blew up on TikTok — even hitting number one on the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart.

With each song, Moliy proves she’s not just making music — she’s creating a movement.
