The District shares its boundaries with six other districts: Atwima Nwabiagya South and Atwima Kwanwoma to the north, Atwima Mponua to the west, Bekwai Municipality to the east, and Amansie Central and Amansie South to the south. It is located within latitude 6.05° West, 6.35° North, 1.40° South, and 2.05° East, covering an area of approximately 522 square kilometers.

With a total of around 65 communities, the District Capital is Manso Nkwanta, situated about 65 kilometers from Kumasi, the Regional Capital. Other significant settlements include Abore, Akropong, Ahwerewa, Antoakrom, Esaase, Essuowin, Mpatuam, Moseaso, Nsiana, Manso Atwere, Yawkrom, Pakyi No. 1, and 2.

As for the population, there are approximately 56,048 males and 53,368 females in the District. The population is predominantly rural, with 56,048 persons (51.23%) residing in rural areas and 53,368 persons (48.77%) in urban areas. The population density is reported to be 209.61 people per square kilometer. While this situation is not yet alarming, efforts are required to manage and control it to avoid undue pressure on natural resources and physical infrastructure in the future.

The strategic location of the District, surrounded by other districts, offers opportunities for marketing goods and services, making it attractive to both local and international tourists. This has the potential to promote hospitality and agricultural activities, particularly citronella, cocoa, oranges, and oil palm plantations, serving not only local agro-based industries but also beyond.
