Asomdwe Park is a memorial garden in Accra, Ghana. It is the final resting place of Professor John Evans Atta Mills, who served as the country’s president from 2009 until he died in 2012.

The park opened to the public soon after his burial and was designed as a place for people to reflect on his life and legacy.

Located near Independence Square, the park is situated in an area rich with national monuments and gathering spaces for citizens.

As time passed, the condition of the site began to decline, which raised concerns among the public and the family of the late President. In response, the government approved renovations to restore and improve the park.

In 2022, the refurbished Asomdwe Park officially reopened. The upgrades ensure that the site honours the dignity of Professor Mills and meets visitor expectations.

Today, the park serves as more than just a tomb; it has become a place of remembrance and tradition.

The park hosts annual commemorative events, particularly by the Odumna Ebusua family of the late President. It also serves as a focal point for ceremonies marking the anniversaries of his death and other national occasions.

Asomdwe Park reflects broader efforts by city authorities and tourism bodies to preserve Ghana’s heritage. It provides a public space where people can come together to remember, celebrate, and draw inspiration from the country’s history and leaders.
