The Asokwa Municipal Assembly stands as a significant entity among Ghana's 261 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), specifically belonging to the cluster of 43 MMDAs within the Ashanti Region.

Functioning with its administrative center in Asokwa, the Asokwa Municipal Assembly was formally inaugurated on March 15, 2018, in conjunction with the induction of 37 other newly constituted districts. This strategic demarcation encompasses an overall land area of 25.31 square kilometres (9.77 square miles).

As of the 2021 population and housing census, the Municipality has recorded a populace of 125,642 individuals. This demographic mosaic comprises 61,000 males and 64,642 females, thus underscoring the balanced gender distribution within the region.
