Stories and facts

Subsequently, in 2012, the Afadjato South District was carved out of the Hohoe Municipal Assembly, reshaping its territorial boundaries.

Located in the Volta Region of Ghana, the Hohoe Municipal Assembly is one of the twenty-five (25) administrative districts in the region. Encompassing a total land surface area of 1,172 square kilometres, it constitutes approximately 5.6% of the region's total land area and 0.05% of the national land surface area.

The administrative hub of the assembly, as well as its various departments, are situated in Hohoe, the municipal capital. Additionally, the assembly has decentralized its operations, establishing Zonal Council offices in strategic zonal capitals, namely Hohoe, Gbi-Wegbe, Santrokofi-Gbedzome, Alavanyo-Kpeme, Lolobi-Kumasi, Likpe-Mate, and Fodome-Helu. This decentralized approach ensures that local governance and services are more accessible and tailored to the specific needs of different communities within the Hohoe Municipal Assembly.

In conclusion, the Hohoe Municipal Assembly stands as a testament to the power of local governance in driving positive change and fostering community development. As it continues to evolve and address the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, the assembly remains dedicated to creating a better future for the people it serves within the Volta Region and beyond.
