Mim Lake, originally known as Anwomasu Lake, is an inland lake situated on the outskirts of Mim in the Asunafo North Municipal District of Ghana's Ahafo Region.

With its scenic beauty and tranquil environment, the lake has become a latent tourist attraction, offering potential for development into a lakeside resort. Visitors frequent the site for leisure and relaxation, enjoying its serene atmosphere.

Geographically, Mim Lake lies at coordinates 6.91873°N, 2.55269°W, along the Mim-Kenyasi road, approximately one kilometer north of the Mim township.

The surrounding communities include the Mim Old-Airport Quarters, Asukese, and Nkensere, which add to the lake's charm and accessibility.

The lake has an intriguing history as a man-made waterbody. It originated as an expansion of the Anwomasu River, initially created as a dam to serve industrial and domestic purposes.

Over time, a smaller dam was constructed closer to Mim at coordinates 6.9105600°N, 2.5605000°W, near the Ayum Forest Products Ltd.

This newer dam took over the original dam's role, allowing the older site, with its rich natural surroundings, to transition into a tourist destination.

The lake now boasts diverse flora and fauna, including unique fish species such as the endemic cichlid Hemichromis frempongi and near-endemic cichlids Tilapia busumana and Tilapia discolor.

Despite its natural allure, Mim Lake has also been the site of tragic incidents. Two individuals, aged 57 and 31, drowned in separate occurrences, reminding visitors to exercise caution while enjoying its waters.

Mim Lake remains a hidden gem with untapped potential, offering a blend of natural beauty and ecological diversity that continues to draw visitors from near and far.

Its rich history and serene environment make it a significant feature of Ghana's Ahafo Region, poised for further recognition as a premier tourist destination.
