Positioned in the northwestern corner of the Upper West Region in Ghana, the Nandom Municipal spans longitudinally between 2°25'W and 2°45'W and latitudinally between 10°20' and 11°00'. Its administrative center is located in Nandom.

Covering a total expanse of 387 square kilometres, this municipality constitutes approximately 3.1% of the entire land area of the Upper West Region. Within its boundaries, there are an estimated 84 communities, with approximately 95% of the population residing in rural areas.

Nandom Municipal shares its borders with the Lambussie Karni District and Jirapa Municipal to the east and south respectively, while its northern and western limits connect with the Republic of Burkina Faso.
As of the 2021 population and housing census, the municipality's population stands at 51,328 individuals. This figure includes 25,577 males and 25,751 females.
