Specifically, it is one of the 43 MMDAs situated within the Ashanti Region, with its administrative capital located in Offinso. Established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1909 in 2007, Offinso Municipal was carved out of the former Offinso Municipal, resulting in the creation of both Offinso Municipal and the Offinso North District.
Geographically, the municipality occupies the extreme north-western part of the Ashanti Region, encompassing the longitudes 10°50' W to 10°45' E and latitudes 70°20' N to 60°50' S. Covering a total land area of 585.7 square kilometers, it constitutes approximately 2.4 percent of the Ashanti Region's total land size.
The Offinso Municipal shares its boundaries with several neighboring districts. To the north lies the Offinso North District, while the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal borders it to the east. Towards the south-east, it is connected to the Sekyere South District, while to the west, it shares borders with both the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal and Ahafo Ano South West District.
As per the 2010 Population and Housing Census, the municipality had a total population of 76,895 residents, comprising 37,068 males and 39,827 females.
The Offinso Municipal is not only known for its administrative significance but also holds cultural and economic importance within the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole. With its diverse population and strategic location, it plays a vital role in the socio-economic development of the country.
