Situated in the southern part of the Ahafo Region, the Municipal capital is Bechem, which lies on the Sunyani-Kumasi first-class road (asphalt). Bechem is approximately 54 km away from Sunyani and 76 km from Kumasi. Covering an area of 489.0 square kilometers, the Tano South Municipality stretches between latitudes 7º00”N and 7º25” N and longitudes 1º45” W and 2º15” W.
The Municipality shares borders with the Offinso Municipal and Ahafo Ano South West District to the north and east, while it is bordered by the Ahafo Ano North Municipal to the south. To its west and south-west lies the Tano North Municipality. This strategic location makes Tano South a crucial hub for regional connectivity and development.
As of the 2010 Population and Housing Census, the Tano South Municipality had a population of 78,129, with 38,299 males and 39,830 females. Since then, it is likely that the population has grown, reflecting the region's attractiveness and potential for economic growth.
