Aggrey Memorial A.M.E. Zion Senior High School, located in Cape Coast, Ghana, is a publicly-supported coeducational institution dedicated to preparing students for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The school has a notable record of academic excellence, consistently achieving high performance compared to its peer institutions.
Historically, Aggrey Memorial offered both Ordinary and Advanced Level programmes, which were phased out in the mid-1990s following the introduction of Ghana's "Educational Reform Programme."
The current curriculum includes Agricultural Science, Business, Vocational (Home Economics and Visual Arts), and General (Arts and Science).
The Technical Programme is the only one not offered. In 2001, nearly all of the 500 candidates from Aggrey Memorial who sat for the WASSCE passed five or more subjects, with top students achieving remarkable grades, including multiple A1s.
Aggrey Memorial also engages in extracurricular activities that promote STEM education. The school participates in the Robotics Inspired Science Education (RiSE) Workshop, which aims to motivate students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by integrating practical robotics applications into their learning experience.
The school's excellence has been recognized by the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC). In 1997, WAEC honored Aggrey Memorial for its outstanding academic performance, highlighting the school’s achievement in producing the best Agricultural Science student in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations.
Technologically, the school is advanced with a 120-foot transmission mast linked via satellite to AT&T in the United States, enhancing its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) capabilities.
Furthermore, in 2010, Aggrey Memorial embarked on an ambitious project to assemble and fly light aircraft, a pioneering initiative in collaboration with Franklyn College in the United Kingdom and the British Model Flying Association (BMFA). This project marked a significant milestone as the first of its kind undertaken by an educational institution in Ghana.
