Geography and Boundaries

 The Asutifi North District lies between latitudes 6°40′ and 7°15′ North and longitudes 2°15′ and 2°45′ West. It shares borders with several neighboring districts, including Sunyani Municipal to the North, Tano North and South Districts to the North East, Dormaa East District to the North West, Asutifi South District to the West, Asunafo North Municipal to the South West, and Ahafo Ano North District (Ashanti Region) to the South East. Encompassing a land surface area of 936 sq.km, the Asutifi North District is one of the smaller districts in the Brong Ahafo Region.

According to the 2010 Population and Housing Census, the Asutifi North District has a population of 52,259, representing 2.7 percent of the region's total population. The population is predominantly rural, comprising 67.8 percent of the total. The district has a slight majority of males, making up 51.2 percent, while females represent 49.8 percent of the population. Major towns in the district include Kenyasi I, Kenyasi II, Ntotroso, Wamahinso, Gyedu, and Gamabia II, with Kenyasi serving as the district capital.

 Demographic Characteristics

The Asutifi North District has a youthful population, with 49.8 percent of the residents falling into younger age groups, resulting in a broad-based population pyramid. The elderly population (aged 65 and above) constitutes a smaller proportion, accounting for 6.7 percent of the total.

 The district's Total Fertility Rate stands at 4.3, with a General Fertility Rate of 126.6 births per 1000 women aged 15-49 years, which is relatively high for the region. The Crude Birth Rate is recorded at 30.7 per 1000 population, while the Crude Death Rate is 8.8 per 1000. The highest death rate for males is among those aged 70 and above, while for females, it is for ages 65-69. Accidents, violence, homicide, and suicide account for 6.7 percent of all deaths, while other causes make up 93.2 percent.

 The Asutifi North District has a household population of 51,524, distributed among 12,138 households. The average household size is 4.2 persons. Children constitute the largest proportion of household members at 44.1 percent, and spouses make up about 11.4 percent.  In the district, 46.3 percent of the population aged 12 years and older are married, while 37.9 percent have never married. About 6.5 percent are in consensual unions, 3.4 percent are widowed, 3.9 percent are divorced, and 1.7 percent are separated.
