The inception of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal dates back to 1988, when it was carved out of the Sefwi-Wiaso District through the enactment of Legislative Instrument 1387. This strategic move aimed to create a focused administrative entity that would cater to the needs and aspirations of the local populace in a more targeted manner. Geographically, the municipality finds its position in the north-eastern fringes of the Western Region, encompassing the geographical coordinates of latitude 6° N to 3° N and longitude 2° W to 3° W.
At the heart of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal lies its bustling administrative capital, Bibiani. Nestled 88 kilometres away from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region and a considerable 356 kilometers from the regional capital, Sekondi, Bibiani has emerged as a pivotal hub connecting various regions and fostering economic interdependence.
