The primary goal of the Internal Audit Unit is to deliver impartial and objective assurance and consulting services to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Assembly's operations. By employing a systematic and disciplined approach, the Unit assists the Assembly in achieving its objectives.

The key operations of the Internal Audit Unit involve assessing and evaluating the Assembly's risk management, control, and governance processes. This evaluation seeks to determine if these processes, as outlined and represented by the management, are not only adequate but also functioning effectively. The ultimate purpose is to ensure that:

  1. Risks are being managed appropriately.

  2. Controls are in place to mitigate risks effectively.

  3. Governance processes are operating as intended.

Irrigation plays a crucial role in the farming activities of vegetable farmers located in Ebony and Plant Pool. They rely on irrigation as their primary source of water, enabling them to cultivate crops all year round. However, a significant challenge arises as the lands designated for vegetable cultivation are being increasingly sold for residential purposes. To safeguard the livelihoods of the farmers, the Assembly, in collaboration with the Municipal Agricultural Directorate, needs to designate specific areas for agricultural purposes and facilitate the acquisition of these lands.

When it comes to agricultural inputs, Unique Agrochemicals serves as the main supplier in the municipality.
