Afigya Kwabre South District - Kodie

Stories and facts

The district, which spans an area of approximately 122 square kilometers (12,188.3 hectares), was established on the 15th of March, 2018, after being delineated from the Afigya Kwabre district.

Geographically, the district is bordered by the Suame Municipal Assembly to the South, Afigya Kwabre North to the North, Atwima Nwabiagya North to the West, Sekyere South to the North East, and Kwabre East Municipal to the South East. The district's proximity to Kumasi, the second-largest city in Ghana, has led to its designation as a dormitory district.

Several towns within the district, including Atimatim, Heman, Nkukua Buoho, Kodie, and Afrancho, have transformed into urban centers due to their close proximity to the urbanized Kumasi Metropolis. As a result, these towns are experiencing a boost in commercial activities, and it is anticipated that this economic growth will contribute to increased revenue for the district.

The Afigya Kwabre South District is a dynamic and fast-growing urban center in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Its strategic location, proximity to Kumasi, and increasing commercial activities make it a significant area for development and investment. However, careful planning and resource management are essential to ensure sustainable growth and improve the overall quality of life for its inhabitants.
