Originating from the Birim Central Municipal Assembly, the Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly was established as one of the 38 recently formed and enhanced District Assemblies in 2018, facilitated by LI 2341. With its administrative center based in Manso, the district spans an approximate area of 417 square kilometers.

An inaugural event on March 15, 2018, marked the formal establishment of the Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly, alongside 37 other newly created districts.

Geographically, the district encompasses a total land expanse of around 632.46km2. It shares borders with several adjacent regions, including Birim Central Municipal, West Akim Municipal, Birim South District, Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District, Agona East District, and Denkyembour District.

In terms of population, data from the 2021 Population and Housing Census (2021 PHC) reveals that the District accommodates a population of 77,498 individuals. This count consists of 37,808 males and 39,690 females, demonstrating a growth rate of 2.4%.
