Positioned in the northeastern portion of the Western Region, the district is situated between latitudes 60 N and 60 30' N, as well as longitudes 20 45' W and 20 15' W. Covering an expanse of 1,159 square kilometres, it accounts for three percent of the total land area within the Western North Region.

The district shares its boundaries with the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal and Juaboso District to the east, Aowin Municipal to the southeast, and Amenfi West Municipal to the southwest. Encompassing an area of 1,120 square kilometers, it constitutes three percent of the land area of the Western North Region.

According to the 2021 Population and Housing Census, the district is inhabited by a population of 70,225 individuals, comprising 36,918 males and 33,307 females.
