As a vital component of the 33 MMDAs that collectively shape the region's administrative landscape, the Achiase District exemplifies Ghana's dedication to fostering effective local governance and community advancement.

In a significant development in 2018, the Achiase District Assembly emerged as a distinct entity, separating from the Birim South District Assembly. This transformative restructuring, facilitated through the enactment of Legislative Instrument (LI) 2370, marked a pivotal step in Ghana's decentralized governance framework. The heartbeat of the Achiase District resonates from Akim Achiase, its designated capital that serves as the nucleus for administrative activities.

The 2021 population and housing census reveal a total population of 56,348 individuals. This includes 27,412 males and 28,936 females, each contributing to the rich cultural fabric and developmental trajectory of the district.

A momentous occasion, the ceremonial inauguration of the Achiase District Assembly took place on February 9th, 2019. This date aligned with the Ghanaian government's introduction of six new assemblies, underscoring a steadfast commitment to empowering grassroots governance and fostering local representation.

Encompassing an estimated land expanse of 501 square kilometres, the Achiase District shares its borders with neighboring administrative units. To the northeast lies the Birim Central Municipal, while the western boundary is formed by the Birim South District. The southern periphery of the district interlaces with the Asikuma Odoben-Brakwa District and the Agona East District, facilitating harmonious regional interconnectivity.

The Achiase District stands as a testament to Ghana's pursuit of effective local governance, underscored by its emergence as a distinct entity and its commitment to grassroots representation. Through its geographical interconnectedness, cultural diversity, and dedicated administrative center, the Achiase District embodies Ghana's unwavering dedication to community progress and holistic development.
